Solventless Cannabis Extracts

Colorado Springs, Colorado

OUR STORY:

The better option

High Altitude Extracts was founded in 2022 by a team of passionate individuals who share a common goal - to help others overcome dependency on harmful drugs.

The company was born out of Scott Perry's personal experience with opiate addiction and the relief he found in cannabis as a medical alternative. Scott, a veteran, had been searching for relief for the last 14 years and had found that the only option available to him through the VA was pain medication. It was not until he moved to Colorado in 2020 that he was introduced to cannabis as an alternative. Through the use of cannabis, Scott was able to stop using the VA prescribed medicine and felt like he had his life back. Determined to share his experience with others, especially with fellow veterans who have been hard hit by prescription opioids, Scott set out to create High Altitude Extracts.

Joining Scott in this endeavor is Teresa Perry, an HR director in the IT field. She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the company and are dedicated to making a long-term positive impact on individuals and the community.

Opiates vs Cannabis

Cannabis, also known as marijuana, has been used for medicinal purposes for centuries. But did you know that it is not just the cannabinoids like THC and CBD that make cannabis medicine? The plant also contains a wide variety of chemical compounds called terpenes, which give cannabis its distinct aroma and flavor and have been shown to have medicinal properties.

Terpenes are found in the essential oils of all plants, including cannabis. They interact with the body's endocannabinoid system, which is responsible for regulating mood, appetite, and other functions. In cannabis, terpenes work in synergy with cannabinoids to enhance or modulate their effects, a phenomenon known as the entourage effect.

Here are some common terpenes found in cannabis and their potential medicinal uses:

  • Myrcene, also found in hops, bay leaves and wild thyme, is known for its sedative effects and is often found in strains that are used for relaxation and sleep. It is also known for its pain-relieving properties and has been used to treat muscle spasms and soreness.
